Latcham Art Centre has started a HUGE art project that we can all work on together. The concept is simple - the results will be incredible!
We have 4 panels that are 4' x 2' and we want to fill them with triangle shaped art! We’ll be with you every step of the way with a template for the triangle, printouts if needed (handed out during drop off times), weekly video sessions demonstrating new art techniques and inspiration, and a weekly progress report on this community project. DON'T FORGET TO PUT YOUR NAME ON THE BACK - WE WOULD LOVE TO INCLUDE YOU IN THE CREDITS!
Latcham Art Centre is OPEN Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 5pm, and Thursdays 10am to 6pm for drop off.

Challenge #1 - USE YOUR WORDS! Challenge to the staff at the Whitchurch Stouffville Public Library:
Words are powerful tools that are used to communicate thoughts, ideas and feelings. We challenge the Whitchurch-Stouffville Public Library to use a word or a phrase they feel passionate about, and visually represent that word on a triangle. It can be fun, emotional, thoughtful - whatever they want! We look forward to sharing their triangles!
Challenge #2 - SHOUT OUT TO MOTHER NATURE Challenge to 1st Stouffville Girl Guides:
After a virtual discussion with Jen Onlock, Education Programs Manager about how to visually express thoughts or feelings about our relationship with nature, members will create unique triangles to share with the community!

WHERE/WHEN TO DROP OFF FINISHED TRIANGLES OR PICK UP PRINTED TEMPLATES:
*** NEW***** Wednesday November 18th from 4 - 7pm at front reception!
Beginning November 24th, Latcham Art Centre will be OPEN to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am - 5pm, and Thursdays from 10am - 6pm. There will be a drop box at the front reception desk!
Do I have to use the template?
No, you don't, but the triangle needs to be the same shape and size to fit into the grid (it is a 6" x 6" square with an "X" through it!) **Check to make sure the baseline is 6" when you print it!
How do I get the triangles to you?
Drop them off during business hours (above) or mail them to us at: LATCHAM ART CENTRE 2 Park Dr. Whitchurch-Stouffville. L4A 4K1
Can anyone create the triangles?
YES! We welcome all submissions!
What can I make the triangles out of?
Paper is best, as it will need to be glued onto a panel. We will be posting technique and inspiration videos for you, but you can choose to do whatever you want on the paper!
Do I have to cut the triangle myself, or can I just give it to you to cut out?
We'd be happy to cut it out for you! If cutting yourself, try to cut on the line as best you can so all of the triangles fit together.
How are you going to put all of the triangles together?
We've created panels that have a grid drawn on them, and will glue them to the board, and then put a clear laquer on at the end to protect them!
How many triangles will you need to fill the entire 4' x 8' project?
It will take 512 pieces of triangle shaped art to fill the project!
Can I still participate if I don't have a printed, and paper or basic materials at home?
YES YOU CAN! Visit us during our drop off times (above) and let us know you need a "Triangle Package" and we'll set you up with materials to get you going!
