Richmond Hill artist, Andrea End, presents two related series of artworks that express the restorative power and value of nature. Andrea’s paintings focus on the land as seen in the reflections of water. The artist likens these rippling, liquified images to visual sounds bouncing around to be heard and seen in a new way. Her intimate forest prints employ a linocut reduction technique in which each image is entirely created from a single linoleum block. After each layer of colour is printed onto the paper, more of the block is cut away. The resulting destruction of the block parallels the gradual loss of natural spaces.
