Nathalie Bertin is a multidisciplinary artist of Metis, French, Anishinaabe and Algonquin ancestry. She is a member of the Waawaashkeshi (Deer Clan). Her beadwork brings together traditional designs from her various ancestries and incorporates silk embroidery, quills, and fish scales to create work that reflects her unique identity. This exhibition of paintings and beadwork presents positive images of Indigenous people, confronting their romanticized depictions throughout art history.
Light refreshments will be provided. Remarks will begin at 7:30.
