Anne Allardyce’s, He is all Pine and I am Apple Orchard is based on Robert Frost’s poem, Mending Wall (1914). This poem depicts a man questioning why he and his neighbour must rebuild a wall dividing their farms each spring.
Allardyce’s sculpture depicts two stylistic people separated by a fence, confronting each other, not unlike the figures in the Frost poem.
The depiction of the “wall” in the sculpture has a sharp and structured feel while the “human” forms have more of an organic, fluid shape.
