Cette exposition pr\u00e9sente des peintures r\u00e9centes de l'artiste torontoise Monica Tap. Ses \u0153uvres de grand format, \u00e0 la construction complexe, offrent \u00e0 la fois un panorama lumineux des marques picturales de l'histoire de l'art et un appel urgent \u00e0 la pr\u00e9servation de notre patrimoine naturel.<\/p>\n

Utilisant des extraits de catalogues de ventes aux ench\u00e8res d\u00e9saffect\u00e9s pour recr\u00e9er ses images sources originales de sites proches de Pickerel River, Tap cr\u00e9e des collages qui lui servent de mod\u00e8les pour ses toiles finales de plus grand format. Sa pratique du collage remet en question la circulation et la marchandisation des images de paysages et produit des repr\u00e9sentations fragment\u00e9es de ses sujets. Les peintures de Tap t\u00e9moignent d'une profonde admiration pour la terre, tout en reconnaissant l'industrialisation des espaces naturels canadiens depuis la colonisation, dans une d\u00e9marche visant \u00e0 concilier le r\u00f4le de l'art dans la construction de cette histoire.<\/p>\n

Monica Tap vit et travaille \u00e0 Toronto.
