Art Instructor

Instructor for Acrylic Painting for Beginners (Ages 18+)
The artist-educator leads this group of adult beginner acrylic painting students in an 8-session program that covers a solid understanding of values, basic colour mixing and brushstroke techniques culminating in a finished painting. Art projects should allow students to experiment with different materials and techniques, as well as expand their knowledge and understanding of art-making processes. All sessions are held in our beautiful lit studio and there will be a maximum of 16 students in each class. The instructor is responsible for the planning, designing and preparation of the art activities, instructing the class, and set-up and clean-up. The instructor will provide the Education Program Coordinator with a lesson plan and list of materials for review. Projects must be age-appropriate, and include a variety of media, techniques and art-related themes. The instructor must arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the sessions to set up (Latcham staff will assist), and remain in the studio until all students depart. The instructor’s up-to-date background check (VSS) for anyone ages 18 and above must be filed with the Art Centre in advance of the course. The VSS must be within a year’s time of employment date.
Must have previous teaching experience of 2 – 3 years minimum.
Must have a degree in Fine Arts.
Must provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
Dates are as follows: April 1, 8, 15, 29, May 6, 13, 27, June 3, 2025
Hours: 9:45 AM – 12:15 PM
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Compensation: $650.00 (2.5hrs x 8 sessions x $32.50/hr). This includes lesson plans, prep/cleaning time and instructional time).

Instructor for Stop-Motion Animation Camp (Ages 12 – 17)
The artist-educator leads this group of students between the ages of 12 – 17 in an 4-day camp program that covers a solid understanding of stop-motion animation. Projects should allow students to experiment with different materials and techniques, as well as expand their knowledge and understanding of the art-making processes. All sessions are held in our beautiful lit studio. The instructor is responsible for the planning, designing and preparation of the art activities, instructing the class, and set-up and clean-up. The instructor will provide the Education Program Coordinator with a lesson plan and list of materials for review. Projects must be age-appropriate, and include a variety of media, techniques and art-related themes.
