New Paintings

Adam Bellavance
January 12, 2008 to February 16, 2008

A solo exhibition by the exciting young artist Adam Bellavance. Bellavance's work conveys the contemporary human condition by exploring the world around us through nature, science and technology. He questions our understanding of and relationship with these aspects of life, thus considering the state of the contemporary world and our role within it. His lush paintings each present a surface like a computer monitor's screen, which, like an interface, brings us as viewers/users into its environment.

The intensely saturated colours with which he paints reference those found on our computer screens while he physically attaches small electronic pieces onto the painting's surface. Despite the obvious presence of technology, Bellavance's paintings also portray basic natural landscapes and basic molecular structures.
