Michael Christian Casola is an Ontario-based artist, writer, and educator. Specializing in photography, Michael’s artwork challenges the perception of reality and brings into view the abstract qualities of the everyday world, whose underlying beauty is often overlooked. 

This exhibition features selections from Michael’s series entitled “The Way.” Inspired by the philosophy of the Tao Te Ching and the symbolism of the yinyang, Michael’s work invites the viewer to stop and consider the balance of opposing forces present in every moment. Each piece demonstrates that in every instance of light or darkness, a seed of the opposite is also present. A shadow is defined by the existence of light, just as new life springs out of death. This relationship can serve as a reminder to move through life with hope of renewal, opportunity, and wholeness.
